GISB EDM

In September 2001 the Gas Industry Standards Board (GISB) Board of Directors took steps toward the formation of an energy industry standards board. Effective January 1, 2002, GISB became the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB). Following in GISB's footsteps, NAESB will develop, maintain and publish voluntary standards and model business practices to promote more competitive, efficient and reliable energy services throughout North American.

GISB was founded in 1993 in response to the natural gas industry’s regulatory and technological developments that were transforming the marketplace. In 1995-1996, the GISB electronic delivery mechanism (EDM) standard was developed with the purpose to eliminate expensive Value-added Network charges while retaining reliability and security of transactions over the Internet. It was the first HTTP based Internet EDI standard. Now used not only by the utility industry, but deployed across multiple industries including the automotive and health care industries, it is estimated to be the most widely deployed EDI standard in the United States. In 1999 alone, Enron recorded more than $26 Billion in e-commerce transactions using the GISB EDM standard.

8760 Inc. has been involved with GISB (GISB) since 1995, and originally proposed the enhancements necessary to make the GISB EDM EDIINT AS2 compliant. The adoption by GISB of enhancements to make the GISB EDM compliant with the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) EDIINT AS2 have been approved and will be included in the version 1.5 of the GISB EDM.

8760 Inc.'s InsideAgent® is GISB-Certified which guarantees that it has been through independent testing to meet the requirements of the GISB. 8760 Inc. is the only company to receive certification for compliance with the latest version, 1.5, of the GISB EDM.
